I tried to recall one of the few times I had ever shopped there because people have been talking about a national toy company that is closing. It’s been a while since I last entered a toy store because both of my children are currently enrolled in college.

My daughter included a drum set at the top of her wish list to Santa one Christmas, and of course, she got it. The toy store employee had promised that the set would be simple to put together, but he was obviously not aware of my mechanical limitations.

I had managed to complete the three pieces of percussion several hours before the kids got up to look under the tree. After all that effort, my daughter probably only played the drums a dozen or so times, and boy am I glad of it.

Had she attempted to become a female Ringo (Ringa) in good faith?) I’m sure I would have had a very difficult time sleeping, Starr. Living next to someone who is learning to play the drums, or any other instrument, can be extremely annoying.

Here are ten comical plots from vintage TV shows that were inspired by that annoying circumstance.

Charles Emerson Winchester from MASH

Following Charles’ (David Ogden Stiers’) horn playing, Hawkeye and BJ both find their fellow surgeon even more annoying than usual.

Alice Cooper on Mayberry RFD

Joey on Friends

Phoebe tries to teach Joey the guitar in a segment called “The person with every resolution. “

Larue on Gidget

Gidget (played by Sally Field) joins a rock and roll band after her best friend falls in love with the guitar.

Ross on Friends

Joey’s friend decides to pick up the bagpipes, as if learning to play the guitar wasn’t bad enough already.

Barney Fife on The Andy Griffith Show

Lucy Ricardo on I Love Lucy
